With the goal of addressing some of society's most significant welfare and health challenges, the Danish Technological Institute (TI) and Health Tech Hub Copenhagen (HTHC) have entered a strategic partnership. This partnership seeks to secure funding for large national and international projects in collaboration with relevant public and private partners.

"Denmark faces substantial health and welfare challenges that require large-scale solutions and national initiatives. According to the partnership, coordinated efforts are needed to address these actual needs, with a clear focus on preventive treatments in the healthcare system" says Project Manager Trine Rolighed Thomsen from the Danish Technological Institute.

New interdisciplinary initiatives

The partnership between the Danish Technological Institute and HTHC aims to unite relevant stakeholders and secure funding to jointly tackle these challenges, for instance, by connecting corporate actors in HTHC’s network with the competencies and laboratories of the Danish Technological Institute.

In addition, new interdisciplinary initiatives and projects will be established, where new solutions will be developed and implemented for the benefit of citizens, healthcare professionals, and industry.

The Danish Technological Institute has broad expertise in health technology. With advanced facilities and a team of specialists, the Institute's competencies include the development and testing of technologies to improve diagnostics, prevent diseases, and support treatment. Moreover, the Institute has expertise in green transition, health data collection and analysis, sensor technology, health robots, automation, digital transformation and AI implementation, production, innovation, business development, surface treatment, and product development.

A wide variety of professional events

Health Tech Hub Copenhagen is an innovation hub aimed at making health technology accessible to all. The hub supports startups, businesses, and government in creating, implementing, and scaling digital health solutions that improve patient care and have global potential. Additionally, the hub organizes a wide range of professional events, such as Copenhagen Health Tech Summit, where health technology experts and professionals from around the world meet annually to explore the future of digital health.

The partnership will focus on several key areas, including the development of large-scale projects. The partnership’s ambition is to create projects with national significance and scale, which can have a positive impact on the healthcare sector.

Continuous knowledge exchange

Furthermore, the Danish Technological Institute and Health Tech Hub Copenhagen will participate in and organize relevant events and conferences to promote knowledge exchange and collaboration. Continuous knowledge sharing between the partners will ensure the development and implementation of the best solutions.

“This partnership represents a unique opportunity to combine our efforts and tackle some of the most pressing health challenges we face. By combining our resources and expertise, we can create solutions that make a real difference,” says Trine Rolighed Thomsen.

Health technology solutions play an increasingly important role in addressing challenges such as workforce shortages and rising healthcare needs.

“The cohesion of our future healthcare system depends on effective and patient-safe technology, as we face increasing needs for treatment and care, along with a shortage of healthcare personnel. Together, TI and HTHC can better pave the way for the development and scaling of health technology solutions for e.g. psychiatry, home care, and preventive care,” says Jannik Zeuthen, Head of Policy & Partnerships at Health Tech Hub Copenhagen.

The partnership will be evaluated annually and has an initial period from June 2024 to May 2027.
